Quick answer: To find your total subscription cost, convert every subscription to a monthly amount (yearly price ÷ 12, weekly price × 52 ÷ 12) and add them up, then multiply by 12 for the yearly total. The subscription cost calculator above does this for you, shows the cost per use of each service, and tells you how much you save by cancelling the ones you do not use.

What the subscription cost calculator includes
This subscription cost calculator works like a small subscription tracker. Your list is saved in your own browser, so you can come back to it, update it and check it before each renewal.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| My subscriptions | Add any subscription with its price and billing cycle (weekly, monthly, every 3 or 6 months, yearly). See monthly, yearly, daily and 5-year totals, spending by category, share of income and a ranking with cost per use. |
| Cancel & save | Tick the subscriptions you might cancel to see the yearly saving and what that money could grow to if invested. |
| Renewals | Lists every charge in the next 90 days, flags free trials that turn into paid plans, and downloads calendar reminders (.ics) two days before each renewal. |
| Annual vs monthly | Shows whether a yearly plan really saves money based on how many months you will actually use the service. |
You can also export your list to CSV for a spreadsheet and import it again later.

Why subscriptions cost more than you think
Small monthly charges are easy to ignore. In CNET's 2026 subscription survey, reported in July 2026, Americans spent an average of $111 a month on subscriptions, about $1,332 a year, and wasted roughly $252 a year on subscriptions they did not use. Free trials that roll into paid plans, yearly renewals you forgot about and price increases all push the total up without you noticing.
Seeing every subscription in one list, with its yearly cost next to it, is usually enough to find one or two to cut.
How to calculate your subscription cost
Convert every subscription to the same period first:
- Weekly: price × 52 ÷ 12 = monthly cost.
- Every 3 months: price ÷ 3.
- Every 6 months: price ÷ 6.
- Yearly: price ÷ 12.
Add the monthly amounts for your monthly total and multiply by 12 for the year. For example, $15.49 + $11.99 + $2.99 + $40 a month plus a $99.99 yearly plan is $70.47 + $8.33 = $78.80 a month, or $945.63 a year. Over five years, that is more than $4,700.
Cost per use: the best test of value
A subscription is good value when you use it a lot. Divide the monthly cost by the number of times you use it each month:
cost per use = monthly cost ÷ uses per month
A $40 gym membership used twice a month costs $20 per visit, while a $11.99 music service used every day costs about $0.40 per use. The calculator flags anything that costs more than 5 per use (in your currency) or is not used at all, so you can decide whether to keep, pause or cancel it.
How to use the subscription cost calculator
- Add your subscriptions. Use the quick-add buttons or "Add subscription", and type the price you actually pay.
- Set the billing cycle. Choose weekly, monthly, every 3 or 6 months, or yearly so the totals are correct.
- Add uses and renewal dates. Enter roughly how often you use each one and its next renewal date.
- Mark what to cancel. Set the status to Review or Cancel and see your savings in the Cancel & save tab.
- Set reminders. Download calendar reminders so no renewal or trial catches you by surprise.

How to cut your subscription bill
- Cancel anything with a high cost per use. If you use it once a month or less, pay per use instead or drop it.
- Rotate streaming services. Keep one at a time, watch what you want, then switch the next month.
- Check for duplicates. Two music apps or two cloud storage plans is a common overlap.
- Set reminders for free trials. Cancel before the trial ends if you will not keep using it.
- Look for family and bundle plans. Sharing a plan with your household can cost less than separate accounts.
- Review once a year. Prices rise and habits change; a yearly check keeps the list honest.

Annual or monthly plan?
Yearly plans are often cheaper per month, but only if you keep the service long enough. Divide the yearly price by the monthly price to find the break-even point. A $119.99 yearly plan versus $12.99 a month breaks even after about 9.2 months. If you are not sure you will use the service for at least that long, start monthly and switch later. The Annual vs monthly tab does this calculation for any two prices.
Privacy
The subscription cost calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your list is stored only in this browser on this device, so nobody else, including Orixiva, can see it. Clearing your browser data removes it, so export a CSV if you want a backup.
The investment projection uses the yearly return you choose. It is an illustration, not financial advice, and real returns go up and down.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my total subscription cost?
Convert each subscription to a monthly amount: divide yearly prices by 12, multiply weekly prices by 52 and divide by 12, and divide 3-month or 6-month prices by 3 or 6. Add them up for your monthly total and multiply by 12 for the year. The calculator above does this automatically.
How much does the average person spend on subscriptions?
In CNET's 2026 subscription survey, reported in July 2026, US adults spent an average of $111 a month on subscriptions, about $1,332 a year, and wasted roughly $252 a year on subscriptions they did not use. Your own total depends on how many services you keep.
What is cost per use and why does it matter?
Cost per use is the monthly price divided by how many times you use the service each month. A $40 gym membership used twice a month costs $20 per visit. A high cost per use is a strong sign a subscription is not worth keeping.
Is an annual subscription cheaper than paying monthly?
Only if you keep the service long enough. Divide the yearly price by the monthly price to find the break-even month. For example, $119.99 a year versus $12.99 a month breaks even after about 9.2 months. The Annual vs monthly tab works this out for any prices.
How can I find subscriptions I forgot about?
Check your bank and card statements for the last 12 months, your app store subscription list on your phone, PayPal automatic payments and your email for receipts. Add each one to the calculator with its next renewal date.
Can I get reminders before a subscription renews?
Yes. Add the next renewal date to each subscription, open the Renewals tab and download the .ics file. It adds a calendar event for every renewal with an alert two days before, and works with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook.
Is my subscription list saved, and is it private?
Your list is saved only in this browser on this device, so you can come back to it later. Nothing is sent to Orixiva. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so use Export CSV to keep a backup.
Is the subscription cost calculator free?
Yes. It is completely free, needs no sign-up and works in any modern browser on phone or computer, in several currencies.
